17" at the withers |
Ember is a very fun dog! She loves to be with us; loves to learn and learns fast. She earned her novice trick dog title when she was only 3 months old. My daughter really wanted to be the one to train Ember for the intermediate trick dog title, and learned a lot teaching Ember new tricks. Ember now has the AKC Advanced Trick Dog title (TKA).
RN stands for Rally Novice. Ember and I earned that the weekend of her first birthday; also the weekend she got her first conformation show points by placing Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex. At her second show we took the CGC test (Canine Good Citizen) and she easily preformed the tasks required for that title. Ember enjoys showing , she's up for anything, but we haven’t had much opportunity to show as our search and rescue work takes priority.
I use Ember's love of hunting for search and rescue. She loves to spend hours in the woods searching. Her small size allows her to follow small game trails into thick brush and her love of climbing leaves her often wondering why I am taking so long to catch up to her while she runs happily along downed trees. When she was 19 months old she and I passed our Human Remains Detection certification test with Search Dogs of the United States. After deploying on five active searches Ember was awarded her AKC SAR-W (Search and Rescue Wilderness) title.
Ember is a great partner. She loves to work, isn't phased by noises or strange things in her environment, and is also happy to relax and chill at home. She's always nearby in case someone wants to do something, but until that moment she will contentedly sleep on the couch or sprawl out on the floor. The moment she hears the leash jingle, or the drawer with training supplies open, she is right at my side, excited and ready for whatever I want to do.
