10/29/2022 0 Comments October 29th, 2022Our final weeks with the Ember/Tank litter were a little chaotic and I switched to only updating on Facebook. We had a large forest fire force us to evacuate our home. The first night we packed up and stayed at my sister's apartment in Portland. I was worried about the possible effect of the bad air quality on the puppies developing lungs so the next morning we set off on an 11 hour road trip to stay with family in Utah. These pups took everything in stride and made lots of new friends! When the air quality was better we made the long drive back home. It was an exciting final two weeks as we told each family which puppy they would be getting, and then said goodbye as they went off to their new homes. Miss Yellow stayed with us, and the others all went to amazing homes that were just perfect for them.

We also did a scent game where they found ground pork sprinkled on a towel (at this age learning food was on the ground and navigating the wrinkles in the towel was challenge enough). It was Ember's third birthday so they each got a pumpkin carrot cupcake which was a fun treat. They are loving exploring and had their first nighttime play time outside in the dark. It took all of us to keep track of them but they had a blast. Miss Purple |
Ember's getting bigger and starting to shed the hair on her belly. With about two weeks to go we have the whelping box set up in our laundry room and have been reviewing our puppy culture videos and workbook. Ember is thrilled at the extra food she gets. She's also realized that her puppy eyes added with larger belly are a hard combo to resist when she asks for food. I have to remind everyone often to not reward begging, although I admit I give in sometimes too, lol. We were able to go on several forest hikes this last week, in part due to the cooler weather we've been having. She's slowed down a little and was more willing to just stay on the trail rather than climbing over and under everything like she typically does. We plan to get out a few more times before the puppies arrive, as long as we can continue to do so without her overheating. We can't wait to meet these puppies! |

New Parents to be???
We are crossing our fingers that Ember and Tank are expecting! Can't wait for our ultrasound appointment. Ember sure is sleepier than normal so I am hoping that is a good sign she is busy growing puppies.
